Narrated history of the Freeman Home
The John A. Freeman Home was built in 1893 at the northeast corner of Main and Freeman Streets. Known as Snowflake’s “Gingerbread House” for its ornate decorative woodwork, it stands as one of the most intact examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Arizona.
The home contains original antiques, toys, and textiles dating from the late 1800s, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into Victorian-era domestic life in a pioneer Arizona community. The Freeman Home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 25, 1980.
The Snowflake-Taylor Chamber of Commerce currently operates out of the John A. Freeman House, giving the historic structure an ongoing civic function alongside its role as a museum home on the heritage walking tour. The building is one of the homes on the tour where visitors can enter and explore the interior.
